Aroma: Deeply earthy and rustic, with a fragrance of toasted grain and roasted cocoa.
Acidity: Very low and soft; it provides a neutral, smooth foundation that helps ground more acidic Arabica components in a blend.
Body: Exceptionally heavy and dense. This grade is a favourite for high-volume coffee service because it produces a thick, stable crema and a substantial mouthfeel.
Tasting Notes: A savoury and straightforward profile featuring notes of dark chocolate, roasted nuts, and a clean, bittersweet finish. It delivers a powerful "kick" and a consistent flavour that holds up excellently in milk-based beverages.
The Craftsmanship
Traditional Shade-Grown Origin: Cultivated in the fertile hills of the Western Ghats, these beans are grown under a natural multi-tier forest canopy. This traditional Indian method ensures a slower maturation process, leading to a denser bean that develops a more balanced flavour than sun-grown Robustas.
Manual Sun-Drying: The craft of our Robusta AB lies in the patient, natural dehydration of the whole coffee cherry. Spread on clean drying patios, the cherries are manually turned and raked throughout the day. This careful handling ensures that even these mid-sized beans dry uniformly, preventing "off-flavours" and preserving the bean's natural sweetness.
Precision Sifting & Sorting: After the dried cherries are mechanically de-husked, the green beans are sifted to ensure the AB size profile. This is followed by a rigorous manual hand-sorting process where our artisans remove any defects. This high level of human intervention ensures a clean, reliable, and consistent export product that meets the standards of international roasters.
