What are the specifications of this product?

Overview

This is a diagnostic in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) reagent kit for the quantitative determination of calcium in human serum, plasma, and urine samples using a photometric system. The kit utilizes the Arsenazo III method, which forms a blue-colored complex directly proportional to the calcium concentration. This test is crucial for diagnosing and monitoring disorders related to calcium metabolism, such as hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D deficiency, and various bone or kidney diseases.

Product Description

Calcium is an essential mineral, with approximately 99% stored in bones. The remaining calcium in serum exists in either a free ionized form or bound to proteins like albumin. Measuring serum calcium is vital because its levels are indicators for various health conditions. Increased calcium levels may suggest hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D intoxication, multiple myeloma, or certain neoplastic bone diseases. Conversely, decreased serum calcium may be observed in hypoparathyroidism, vitamin D deficiency, and certain kidney-related conditions like nephrosis and nephritis.

This reagent kit uses the Arsenazo III method to accurately measure calcium concentration. The principle is based on the reaction of calcium ions (Ca2+) with the chromogenic reagent Arsenazo III. This reaction forms a stable, blue-colored complex, and the intensity of this color is directly proportional to the calcium concentration in the sample. This simple, reliable, and sensitive endpoint method is well-suited for use in hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic laboratories to aid in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of metabolic and endocrine disorders.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked by buyers

Common questions B2B buyers ask before sourcing Calcium Mono Reagent Kit (Arsenazo III Method) for Quantitative Determination. Answers compiled from verified sellers' commercial terms and platform data.

Q: How does the Arsenazo III method in this kit improve calcium measurement accuracy over other methods?
A: The Arsenazo III method forms a stable, intense blue complex with calcium ions that is highly specific, minimizing interference from other cations and proteins, thus providing precise and reliable calcium quantification.
Q: Is this reagent kit compatible with automated biochemical analyzers?
A: Yes, the Calcium Mono Reagent Kit is formulated for compatibility with most photometric biochemical analyzers commonly used in diagnostic laboratories.
Q: What sample types are validated for use with this Calcium Mono Reagent Kit?
A: The kit is validated for quantitative calcium determination in human serum, plasma, and urine samples.
Q: What storage conditions are recommended to maintain reagent stability and performance?
A: Store the reagent kit at refrigerated temperatures between 2-8°C and avoid freezing to maintain stability and ensure consistent assay performance.
Q: Can this reagent kit detect calcium concentration ranges relevant to both hypocalcemia and hypercalcemia clinically?
A: Yes, the detection range spans approximately 1.0 to 15.0 mg/dL, covering clinically significant low and high calcium concentrations for effective diagnosis.
Q: How quickly can test results be obtained using this kit?
A: The assay offers rapid reaction times, typically delivering results within a few minutes, facilitating timely clinical decision-making.
Q: Are there any known interferences or limitations with this reagent kit in calcium measurement?
A: While highly specific, extremely high concentrations of certain interfering substances or abnormal sample matrices may affect readings; following manufacturer instructions minimizes these impacts.
