Moth Beans

Moth beans are a small-seeded pulse widely used in milling, snack formulations and regional cuisines. Their compact kernels adapt well to roasting and milling operations producing high-fiber flours. This page provides application fit, technical notes, QA signals and procurement guidance for processors and retail packers.

Applications and processing fit

• Milling: roast-and-mill routes produce fine flours for snack extrusion and composite flours.
• Food processing: moth bean flour can be blended for high-fiber bakery and snack formulations.
• Retail: sealed consumer packs for health-food and ethnic ranges.

Technical behaviour and handling

• Hydration and roasting behaviour: predictable soak profiles and stable roast acceptance make moth beans easy to integrate into continuous processes.
• Moisture control under 12% is important for milling consistency and shelf stability.
• Sorting reduces foreign matter and improves finished product appearance.

Quality assurance and documentation

• Batch testing includes moisture and impurity checks.
• COA available per batch on request.
• Private-label packing and lot traceability services can be provided for retail and contract customers.

Packaging, lead time and logistics

• Packaging: bulk 25 kg sacks with inner liners; retail pouches for consumer channels.
• Lead time: 10–20 days depending on milling and packaging needs.
• Supply cadence: scheduled monthly shipments available for repeat buyers.
