Horse Gram

Horse gram (kulthi) is a dense pulse used in specialty flours, roasted ingredient lines and traditional food products. Its robust kernels tolerate thermal processing and milling, enabling manufacturers to produce high-fiber blends and extrusion-ready formulations. Below are technical details, applications, QA signals and procurement considerations for buyers and spec teams.

Applications and buyer scenarios

• Manufacturing: ideal for roasted flour and protein-fortified snack formulations where thermal stability is required.
• Milling partners: roast-and-mill workflows produce textured flours for snack extruders.
• Retailers: value health-oriented lines with sealed retail pouches for ethnic or health-food segments.

Processing behavior and attributes

• Hydration: predictable soak and cook profiles yield consistent texture in blended products.
• Roasting: kernels accept dry heat roasting to develop flavor before milling.
• Purity and cleaning: machine-sorted to reduce stones and dust.
• Additional sortex cleaning can be applied for premium retail grades.

Quality assurance and documentation

• Batch-level moisture and foreign-matter tests are standard.
• COA can be supplied detailing these results.
• When requested, documentation for private-label packing, lot linkage and packing photographs can be included in the shipment package.

Packaging, lead time and logistics

• Packaging: 25 kg bulk sacks with inner liners; retail pouches from 500 g upward for consumer packs.
• Lead time: typically 12–25 days depending on packaging and certification needs.
• Supply model: scheduled monthly replenishment available for contract buyers and distributors.
