There are two types  of rice Parboiled or Steamed rice and Raw rice.
Daily use rice varieties are IR64, Sona Masoori, Ratna, Jayanti, Jeerakati, Miniket etc.
Long grain rice wth mild aroma Basmoti rice like XXXl Sella, 1121 Golden Sella, both are 
parboiled rice. Basmoti rice comes mainly from North West India. In North East India, in the states like Nagaland, Arunachal Prodesh, Black Rice are grown there.
In the Eastern India, state of West Bengal Gobindo Bhog Rice are grown, which is a very special rice.
Has nice aroma and has buttery flavour when eaten. It is used for making poridge / payasam
and for special purposes during festivals and also for daily use. It is raw rice and grains are shoht.
