Psyllium husk forms a gel-like substance when mixed with water or other liquids. It can aid in various health benefits. Source of Psyllium Husk Psyllium husk is derived from the seeds of the Plantago ovata plant. After the seeds are harvested and processed, the outer husk or seed coat is separated and used as psyllium husk. Fiber Content of Psyllium Husk Psyllium husk is extremely rich in fiber, particularly soluble fiber. It contains about 70-80% soluble fiber and 20-30% insoluble fiber. The primary soluble fiber component in psyllium husk is mucilage, which has water-absorbing and bulking properties.
