The BMT-20 is a binoculars-type, simultaneous dual iris capture system intended for enrollment applications, especially very large scale programs, in which subjects are presumed to have no prior experience in providing iris biometrics samples. Developed for and proven in the highly demanding India UID program, the BMT-20 offers the fastest capture speeds, superior usability, minimal failure-to-captures rates and outstanding image quality. Most importantly, the instructions are easy to communicate, resulting in a simple experience for operator and subject alike. The user is simply directed to raise the BMT-20 to his or her eyes as if they were binoculars, touching the forehead bar to the subject just above the eye brows. Once the device is in position, they are asked to center their eyes in the internal mirror while keeping them wide open their eyes. The system does all the work of finding the irises and capturing pristine iris biometrics samples.

The CMITech BMT-20 is a binoculars-type iris recognition system designed for rapid, simultaneous dual-eye capture. A key feature is its power-over-USB capability, drawing all power directly from a USB 2.0 connection, eliminating the need for an external power supply and enhancing portability.

This robust device ensures high image quality, exceeding ISO/IEC 19794-6 standards, critical for accurate biometric matching. It offers a wide capture range with a 30mm depth of field and accommodates inter-pupillary distances from 40-90mm, suitable for subjects from age five upwards. Capture is fast, typically under one second.

The BMT-20 features a durable, all solid-state design (IP64 rated) with no moving parts. User-friendly features include external color LEDs for positioning guidance and an internal white LED for consistent pupil diameters in varied lighting. It also detects off-axis gaze to ensure proper capture.

Compatible with Microsoft Windows (Linux and Android SDKs in development), the BMT-20 is also STQC certified in India, making it ideal for government initiatives like Aadhaar.
