Broken rice refers to fragments of rice grains that are broken or fractured during the milling process, and these fragments are separated from the whole grains and sorted by their sizes.

Broken rice is high in fiber, and contains vitamins and minerals like B vitamins, folic acid, and magnesium and used in animal feed, brewing, cooking, and making rice flour.

The types of broken rice varieties are like Swarna, IR64, 1121 Sella Basmati, BPT, Kurnool Sona, Sona Masoori are like Basmati and non-basmati, Thai Jasmine broken rice.

It is as nutritious as the equivalent quantity of unbroken rice (i.e. if all the germ and bran remains) used in human food and also in the pet food industry, and for livestock feeding and aquaculture.
