 Absorbable haemostatic gelatin sponge ) is a sterile absorbable gelatin sponge with haemostatic effect suitable for the control of bleeding. ( Absorbable haemostatic gelatin sponge ) is manufactured from highly purified neutral gelatin foam of uniform fine porosity which guarantees a favourable haemostasis. Gelatin sponge activates the thrombocytes at the moment blood comes in contact with the matrix of the sponge. It causes thrombocytes to release a series of substances which promote their aggregation at the same time as their surfaces change character, and enabling them to act as a catalyst for the formation of fibrin.
