STAINLESS STEEL SHEETS
13. Magnetic Properties
- 304 and 316: Generally non-magnetic in the annealed condition; may become slightly magnetic after cold working.
- 430 and 410: Magnetic.
14. Relevant Standards
- ASTM A240
- ASTM A480
- EN 10088
- JIS G4304
- IS 6911 (India)
- ASTM A240
- ASTM A480

15. Typical Weight Calculation
Formula:
Weight (kg) = Length (m) × Width (m) × Thickness (mm) × 7.93
Example:
- Size: 2440 × 1220 × 2 mm
Weight = 2.44 × 1.22 × 2 × 7.93 ≈ 47.2 kg
16. Choosing the Right Grade
- 304: Best for general indoor and commercial use.
- 316: Best for marine, coastal, and chemical environments.
- 430: Economical choice for decorative and appliance applications.
- 409: Suitable for high-temperature automotive exhaust systems.
- 410: Preferred where higher hardness and wear resistance are required.
Stainless steel sheets are available in numerous grades, finishes, and dimensions, allowing them to be selected for applications ranging from architectural cladding and food-processing equipment to chemical plants and precision engineering.

17. Storage Guidelines
- Store in a dry, clean environment.
- Keep away from corrosive chemicals.
- Protect from moisture and contamination.
- Use non-metallic separators to prevent surface damage.
- Handle carefully to avoid scratches and dents.
Stainless steel coils are available in a wide range of grades, dimensions, and finishes to meet the requirements of industries ranging from construction and food processing to chemical manufacturing and precision engineering. Selecting the appropriate grade, thickness, and finish depends on the operating environment, fabrication method, and performance requirements of the final application.
SS ROUND PIPE
- SS 304 / 304L: The most prominent commercial grade. Offers high general corrosion resistance and simple formability for architecture or food processing.
- SS 316 / 316L: Superior grade containing molybdenum. Resists chloride pitting, making it ideal for marine settings and chemical processing plants.
- SS 202: A cost-effective, low-nickel variant. Generally used for indoor furniture, handrails, and non-corrosive decorative applications.
- Production Type: Available as Seamless (extruded without a weld line, suitable for high pressure) or Welded / ERW (rolled from steel strips and longitudinally welded).
- Size Metric Options: Specified via Outer Diameter (OD) from 5.8 mm to 508 mm, or Nominal Bore (NB) sizes spanning 1/8 inch up to 32 inches.
- Wall Thickness: Ranges globally from thin gauge (0.3 mm) up to heavy-walled options (50 mm). Thickness classes adhere strictly to standard Schedules such as Sch 10S, Sch 40S, or Sch 80S.
- Standard Length: Distributed commercially in default 6-meter (20 feet) sections.
- Surface Treatment Options: Offered in Mill Finish, Industrial Pickled, Satin Matte, or high-gloss Mirror Polish finishes.
- Typical Applications
- Oil, gas, chemical, and water distribution lines.
- Heat exchangers, industrial boilers, and condenser units.
- Architectural balustrades, staircase handrails, and durable modern furniture.
