The Mega Tsunami disaster of 2004 significantly affected many of the South Asian territories, particularly the East Coast of India. The National Resource Management in Disaster Situations Division, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi, spearheaded an All India Co-ordinated Programme on Tsunami Disaster Assessment and Mitigation, which engaged various institutions with expertise in Geomatics, Earth System Dynamics, and related natural disasters. The programme employed Geomatics technology, including Arial Photography, Photogrammetry, Satellite Remote Sensing, Digital Image Processing, GPS Surveys, and GIS modeling, to create geo-spatial databases on Tsunami disasters with respect to Natural, Physical, and Human Resources. The book provides insights into the research conducted along the Indian Coast, as well as a general overview of tsunami studies in Norway.
