These spices are typically toasted whole, and then ground down into a fine powder. Although traditional Garam Masala can contain more than 32 individual spices. Garam masala adds warmth, sweetness, floral notes, and a touch of heat from the black pepper.It is intended to be a fragrant spice as well as flavorful. Gujaratis and Marwaris normally use it in lentils (dal) and for filling in snacks such as samosa, usal, patra, farsan etc.
