The book is composed of eight main chapters, each of which covers a specific type of fibre crop, with the exception of chapter two, which deals with both Mesta (kenaf) and Roselle, as they are subject to similar disease and insect pest attacks. Each chapter is further divided into two or three subchapters, depending on the number of diseases and pests being discussed.
